Can hospice provide a gait belt?

My mother was just admitted to hospice. I usually help transfer her in the mornings and evenings. I think I need to start using a gait belt. Where is the best place get a gait belt. Is this something hospice can provide?

Leanne is 100% correct. You can also find them at Walgreens on CVS but you may expect to pay a few dollars more.

Sling Positioning for Hoyer Lift

I tried to use a full body sling for my mother, but her body began slipping through the hole as I lifted her. What are some thoughts to consider when I arrange her body on the sling? Any ideas to prevent her body from slipping?

As @leanne.chaloupka mentioned it would be helpful to have the sling type and a picture. Until then, just a general comment - One common mistake I see is using the wrong sling loops connected to the hoyer lift cradle. In general you want to connect the sling loops near the patients head and feet so that the feet are in a lower position. This will keep your mother in an a seated or upright position. I hope that helps. If not, I will monitor for a little more information.

How to get loved one to use Gait Belt?

I am doing some minor transferring, mostly helping my mother in/out of chairs and out of bed. She uses a walker to get around the house. I know I can benefit from using a gait belt. She seems to resist using it. Any ideas for encouraging the use of a gait belt?
